don’t take lessons,
I got a kit for christmas like 3 years ago (I was in 6th grade)
and i just practied on it everyday (I just turned my iPod up loud and played along with fun songs)
and slowly you’ll start getting better and better(;
but idk, that worked for me, everyone has different things that work for them,
so try whatever you feel most comfortable with(;
you can do any of those things, really. its going to depend largely on your budget. if money is no issue, i would suggest buying a full kit and getting some lessons. but again, its possible to self teach yourself, especially if you have some prior music knowledge. but i would still recommend getting a full set. a practice pad is good, and its great to learn all the rudiments, but you will find yourself quickly wanting a full set.
lessons are around 10-25 bucks for a half hour. obvisouly prices will vary greatly. i would reccomend a brand name drum kit, like pearl, tama, mapex, or yamaha.
well, when i started drumming i purchased a cheaper set in case i lost inrest in it (i didn’t). i found a teacher that was in my city localy that would do lessons for twenty bucks an hour…. and right now my son is taking lessons from the same person because i dont have the time to teach him…. u definatly do wanna get a practice pad and learn all rudiments.
